How it works

Visitors apply to become affiliates through a form on your site. Once you approve them, they get a personal referral link (yoursite.com/?ref=their-code). Anyone who follows that link is tracked with a cookie — 30 days by default, with first-click attribution so credit can’t be stolen by a later link. When a tracked visitor registers, submits a listing, or pays for a pricing plan or featured listing, the affiliate earns a commission. You review it, approve it, and record the payout. Nothing is ever paid automatically — you stay in control of every dollar.

Commissions that match how your directory makes money

Flat rewards for free events — set a fixed amount for referred registrations and listing submissions. Hold registration commissions until email verification, and credit listing commissions on submission or only on publish, so spam never earns anything.
Fixed or percentage commissions on paid orders — earn affiliates a cut of pricing plan purchases and featured listing upgrades, as a fixed amount or a percentage of the order total (e.g. 15% of every plan sold).
Automatic reversals — if an order is refunded or cancelled, its commission is reversed on its own and never reaches your payout queue.
Fine-grained targeting — pay only for certain user types or directory types, and choose whether new referrals start pending or pre-approved.

A payout workflow, not just a number

Affiliates save how they want to be paid — PayPal, bank transfer, or cash — and can request a payout from their dashboard once they clear your minimum. On your side, a Payouts screen shows every request with the details you need to pay against, plus a work queue of all approved, unpaid commissions. Tick, mark paid, done: the plugin groups payments into one record per affiliate, enforces your minimum payout threshold, and keeps a permanent, filterable payout history for month-end reconciliation. A one-click CSV export gives you every unpaid commission with payout emails, ready for your bank or PayPal batch tool.

Built for real admin days

Everything lives in one tabbed page under the Directorist menu: Dashboard, Affiliates, Referrals, Visits, Payouts, and Settings. Approve applications in a minute, moderate referrals in bulk, and cross-check suspicious activity against a per-affiliate visit log — repeat visits are deduplicated daily, bots are filtered out, and self-referrals are blocked. Every table filters by affiliate, status, and date range, and every screen exports exactly what your filters show to CSV, with columns the table doesn’t have room for.

Emails, translation, and privacy

Seven plain-text notifications keep everyone informed — new applications, decisions, new referrals, payout requests, and payout outcomes — each with an editable subject and body, placeholder tokens, and its own on/off switch. The whole plugin is translation-ready (Loco Translate, WPML, Polylang supported), and GDPR-friendly options include IP anonymization, a consent-tool filter for the tracking cookie, and clean data removal on uninstall.

For developers

Two shortcodes render the application form and dashboard anywhere. Action hooks fire on affiliate creation, status changes, referrals, reversals, and payouts; filters let you adjust any commission on the fly or rewrite emails before sending. Forms work with JavaScript disabled, and every AJAX endpoint is nonce-protected.

Requirements

WordPress 6.3+, PHP 7.4+, and Directorist 8.7.3+ active. Percentage commissions on plan purchases require the Directorist Pricing Plans extension; featured listing commissions require monetization with featured listings enabled.
